IowaVetsCemetery.jpgThe Iowa Veterans Cemetery is Iowa’s only state-owned and operated veterans cemetery in Iowa. Its construction was federally funded with groundbreaking on Veterans Day in 2006 and official dedication on July 3, 2008.  This unique cemetery in central Iowa is located near Adel and VanMeter— 8 miles from our facility, Iowa Cremation – Waukee. The Licensed Funeral Directors at Iowa Cremation are experienced professionals that can assist with information and resources for Veterans Benefits, including options available for eligible veterans at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Iowa Veterans Cemetery offers cemetery selections for eligible veterans that include columbarium walls for cremated remains, and in-ground burial for cremated remains. Eligibility is determined by completion of their Pre-Application for Burial that can be found on their website. Iowa Veterans Cemetery does not have a state residency requirement and has interments of veterans from over 38 different states.

The Iowa Veterans Cemetery operates under the United States Department of Veterans Affairs operational standards and will also allow for the interment of an eligible veteran’s spouse, and eligible dependent children. As they operate under these standards, all eligibility determinations are made in accordance with applicable federal regulations and any state administrative rules that may apply. There are no fees for the burial of an eligible veteran, including the applicable standard government supplied memorial marker/headstone. Interment fees are assessed for eligible spouses and dependent children. These fees are placed in a fund for future expansion and improvements. Perpetual care of the interment sites is maintained by Iowa Veterans Cemetery at no additional cost.
