Before a death has occured and a family is interested in information or becoming a member of Iowa Cremation.
Iowa Cremation was established as a membership-based professional cremation service for all of Iowa, and it is important that, if possible, a person has signed up prior to the death occurring. If they are unable to become a member we can still be of assistance. We explain this further in the section below titled “Immediate need or a death has occurred.”
For those interested in Iowa Cremation, this website offers many choices on how to receive information. Our Download Information portal allows for a simple form to be completed, and then access to specific information including pricing details. If a request for information is not time-sensitive, you may use our simple Contact Us Form or call us directly at 1-888-871-3361.
If a family has decided to select Iowa Cremation and they would like to complete the process of becoming a member, there multiple methods to accomplish this. The Iowa Cremation website offers a Become a Member portal that allows them to complete all preplanning and prefunding through a secure site that can be used on a computer, tablet or mobile device. With some advance notice, we can have one of our licensed Preplanning Counselors come to a location that best meets the needs of the family to complete all the arrangements in person. Additionally, preplanning and prefunding can be completed over fax or through e-mail.
Immediate need or a death has occured.
Regardless of the membership status of the deceased, please call us first at 1-888-871-3361, so that we can clearly explain the options to the family wishing to use our services. This will allow for us to review any information that may have previously been completed with Iowa Cremation and to also provide answers to any questions you or the family might have.
Once Iowa Cremation has been notified of the death, one of our licensed funeral directors will begin the process of compiling and reviewing the information that was provided over the phone, as well as information about the deceased that we have on file. The funeral director will also make contact with the individual listed as the next-of-kin, and coordinate with any hospice, hospital, nursing home or other staff regarding bringing the deceased into our care.
Since families sometimes decide to remain with their deceased loved one until the funeral director arrives, it’s not uncommon to begin the at-need arrangement conference at the location of death. In some circumstances, the next-of-kin may not be present when the funeral director arrives, and we are fully equipped to assist families who wish to complete forms through either e-mail or fax.
Please visit our Arrangement Process page for in-depth details about how arrangements are handled both before a death has occurred and after. We also offer information about the Cremation Process and answers to some frequently asked questions
