Gloria Louise Eells
Ms. Eells was one of the teachers that shaped my love for the Social Sciences. Between Dr. Francis McMann and Ms. Eells, there may not have been two better teachers in the district. God be with her family. -dcw-
Ms. Eells embraced the world of education with an infectious joy, a limitless patience, and an unwavering faith in the potential of each student. Her genuine kindness, combined with a sincere concern for the well-being of her students, forged enduring memories. Remarkably humble, she shied away from the spotlight, yet we noticed, and we appreciated her just as much as she cared for us. Amazing teacher.
As a young teacher at McKinley Junior High, I had the honor of working with Gloria to develop new curriculum and then "test" it out with students. Whatever she designed turned to gold as students became excited about the ideas she presented and the questions she asked. I knew I was in the presence of a master teacher every time I connected with her. What an impact she made on me and my teaching style. I still remember the units we designed and the energy she brought to the classroom. Thank you, Gloria, for sharing your talents with me. I will always remain in your debt.
We feel a deep sense of sorrow at your passing. Your passion for teaching history and social studies, along with your inquisitive spirit and unwavering dedication, has left a lasting impact on all of us lucky enough to be your students. Your remarkable talent for making history come alive, connecting the past to our present, and fostering a love for understanding societies and cultures was truly outstanding. The dynamic and engaging classroom environment you created turned the study of history into an exciting journey of discovery rather than a mere academic task. Your humility and dedication were truly remarkable.
