Obituary for Floyd Allen Hendricks

Al has left the building.

Wow, there is so much that could be said. Floyd Allen Hendricks AKA Al has left the stage for the last time. He passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones and listening to his old tapes. Anyone who knew him was lucky. He would do anything for you.

There wasn't much in this life that Al loved more than music. From the age of 16 he was on stage performing, up until last Sunday Feb 11th at Rumors. There were too many bands to name that he was involved in over the years, from Louie and the Hilads, to The Good Bad and Ugly, and the Firehouse Hosers.  He brought a lot of joy to people over the years. You could always request a song from him by writing it on the side of a 20-dollar bill wrapped around a tequila sunrise. That always helped. He was inducted to the Iowa rock and roll hall of fame in 2004. He was quite proud of that. He would always go out of his way to help young musicians find their sound and groove. For quite a few years he was always with his VW van Jesus. He was very proud of his work on that van and made some very close friends during that time. Unfortunately, we couldn’t follow through with all his final wishes. The city-wide parade with horse drawn carriage and 5 strippers was denied by the city, imagine that. But we can fulfill his wish that he will be cremated and spread from Omak Washington to New Orleans Louisiana. He was raised in Omak and always told the greatest stories about growing up there.

He leaves behind his son Scott and wife Stacy Hendricks, 3 grandchildren and little furball Alabama Worley. He's back with Dexter J Bird and Foxy but most importantly, his furball Mallory Knox. She left him 2 weeks before, and well, he was just ready to join her.

There will be a get-together in spring at our special place. We will let everyone know. 

A special shout out to the west side jam at Rumors and everyone involved in the last few years, you all were very special to him.  Please don't cry though, it would just piss him off. Instead, go to your local jam session, give a listen, have a drink, and drop a tip to the band in memory of Al.
