Donald Luther Goss

Donald Luther Goss, 70, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday August 3, 2023, in his home surrounded by family. Services will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald was born on February 6, 1953, in McAlester, Oklahoma, the son of Donald Frederick Goss and Betty Rae Sauber.  Donald grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma. They moved to McCook, Nebraska in 1978 where Donnie was employed as manager for Atleson Pump and Supply, Midwest Mailing Solutions as a service tech based out of McCook, Nebraska and managed the marina at Red Willow Lake. 

Donnie married Shelley Catlett in 1976. They had 3 sons, Craig Allen Broughton, Brian Lee Broughton and James Luther Goss. He then married Sheralee Hemelstrand in 2005 and they lived in McCook Nebraska until 2016, when they moved to Mechanicsville, Iowa.  Donnie was an avid fisherman and hunter. He taught grandkids to fish and took them camping. 

Sheralee and previous husband Johnny Hemelstrand had 3 children, Tray Hemelstrand, Heather and husband Eric, and their children, Cole Ehresman and wife Nicole, Cody Ehresman and wife Emily, Abigail and husband Jake Weiland, Levi Ehresman, Mariah Ehresman, Jessica Ehresman, Jarett Ehresman, Elijah Ehresman and Sarah Ehresman, and great grandchildren Stratton Ehresman, Crew Ehresman and Kip Ehresman,  a son Troy Hemelstrand, and a son Jared and wife Sherida and their children, Tyson Hemelstrand, Miles Hemelstrand and Julia Hemelstrand.  Donald is also survived by a brother, David Goss and wife Cindy.

Donnie loved spending time with grandchild. He loved all his children and Sheralee children as his own. He will be greatly missed by all.
