Robert Don Wilson

Robert Don Wilson (89) passed away peacefully on October 27, 2021, surrounded by family and friends.

Bob was born in Arion Iowa to Edward and Sarah Wilson on February 13, 1932. He worked on the farm to help his dad. After graduation in 1950 he joined the Navy. He benefited from the skills and life lessons learned in his 4 years of service.

After returning home, he worked for Northern Natural in Garner, Iowa where he met his sweetheart, Jean who made him awesome strawberry malts at a local Garner diner. After falling in love with her beautiful smile and gentle loving personality they were married on November 10, 1957.

Bob and Jean lived in Garner, San Bernadino and San Diego CA then eventually settled in Clear Lake. Bob worked as a mechanic at the Clear Lake Bakery then became self-employed as a carpenter. His skill, hard work and honesty benefited many in the community.

Those left to cherish memories of Bob are his sweetheart, Jean of 64 years, his three sons Robert (Jackie), Dave (Lori), and Tim and two daughters Sue and Carolyn “Wink” (Nick). He was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Isaac (Brigid), Alexis, Erick (Sara) Rebeca (Zach), Elizabeth, Jordan, Collette (Nate), Cory (Kristi) and Randall (Krystal). He was further blessed with 11 great grandchildren: Carrie, Cammie, Marley, Wyatt, Laine, Dorothea, Joaquin, Lily, Alexander, Oliver, and Violet.

Bob was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 52 years. He volunteered many hours engaging in various aspects of the ministry and in inspecting, building, and remodeling countless Kingdom Halls in the Iowa and Minnesota area.

Bob was an avid reader who enjoyed learning new skills even in his later years.  His children very much appreciate that he taught them the value of hard work and being a spiritual person by his example. He was dearly loved for his firm friendly handshake, heartfelt prayers, and his loyal stand for what he felt was right. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

A Zoom funeral will be held on November 13th at 3pm. Contact the family for details.
