William Theodore Battey
William (Bill) Theodore Battey, 65, of Des Moines, Iowa, went home to be with his Savior Sunday, September 22, 2019. He passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
Bill was born October 21, 1953 in Boulder City, Nevada. His family moved to Grinnell, Iowa in 1968. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1971, where he played the tuba their high school band.
He loved his family dearly, and his community of friends at Ligutti Tower Apartments in Des Moines.
Bill is survived by his daughters Alicia (Jeremy) Geddis and Cara (Leland Roberts) Battey; grandchildren Arianna, Killian, and Kinzleigh Geddis, and Warren Roberts. Also surviving are his sister Karen (John) Lipcamon and brother Howard (Cassie) Battey and nieces and nephews, and ex-wife Daphne Battey.
Bill was a happy, down-to-earth guy who loved Batman, Ford Mustangs, telling jokes, playing cribbage, calling Bingo, and making people laugh.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date
