Tommi Hay Boeder

Although I hadn't seen Tommi in years -- which makes me even sadder to learn of her passing -- she was truly unforgettable. We worked together at Stamats back in the 1980s and she was irrepressible -- full of life and spunk and humor, and as hard-working as they come. The world won't be nearly as colorful or as kind without her. Sending deepest condolences to her family, friends and congregation.

Tommi was the first person I met when I was coming to work and live in Cedar Rapids some thirty five years ago. She was so warm, friendly with a wonderful sense of humor. We worked in the same company for several years. She made me and everyone around her better people because of her approach to life. What a wonderful person she was.

We spent hours as voluntees for Habitat for Humanity and she was our leader and very faith based. Fun times and sorry we had lost track of her. Only Faith,Family,Friends,Time and Good Memories will ease the pain.

We met Tommi last December through her role as interim pastor at Tipton UCC. It took only minutes to understand how caring and compassionate a person she was as she guided our family through the death of our mother. Tommi spent hour after hour with our family providing support as if we were her only care in the world. Family and friends attending our mother’s service were in disbelief when we told them she had known our family for only three weeks since her message was so personal. We are so sad for the world’s loss and feel unbelievably fortunate to have known Tommi. What a remarkable person!

Tommi was not self contained. From her bright wavy hair to her colorful clothes and wonderful humor. Tommi was a fixture in our church, First Congregational.

Tommi was my cousin as my grandmother came from a large family. And we had big family reunions throughout the years. Tommi always had the biggest smile and a quick wit. So when I would go to the family reunions, I looked forward to see Tommi and the others. She will leave a huge hole at the family reunions. My mother loved and adored her. Heaven gained another ?? angel.
