She was a wonderful, generous woman who I’m so grateful I got the chance to know. May she rest in peace...

Sorry for your loss. I did not meet Joy but knew her though Desyle her mom. I worked with Desyle and she talked about Joy a lot and she was her pride and joy. Desyle went to our church and I worked with her at Hammond Henry hospital. I still use Desyle pie crust recipe and think about her when I make pies. Joy was Thought of greatly by Desyle. Sorry for your loss and may the Lord bring you comfort. Carolyn.

To Joy Smith's Family: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother/grandmother. My mother, Ina (Gotthardt) Asplund, was a friend, neighbor, and classmate of Desyle (Goetz) Koch, and I was told that I was named after Desyle's daughter. I'm not certain if I really was or if it was just a coincidence ,but I do remember being very pleased to receive birthday cards from another "Joy" when I was younger. Again, you have my sympathy. Kay and Tess, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how special she was to both of you and remember hearing about the good memories of visits you had or the good times that were coming with impending visits. I am so glad she was able to move closer to you. God bless you all and I hope you gain comfort with all of the good memories. Love, Kristen

Dear Kay and family - sending you my most sincere condolences. Joy and I had a lot of fun working together at the VNA years ago. She always brought us homemade treats to eat, and my family still loves her sugar cookie recipe that we make every Christmas. Joy never failed to send me a birthday card, which was so special to me. I have such fond memories of your mom, Kay, and I know you will miss her greatly.
