I was with great sadness that Margie and I learned of Lance's passing. Lance and I met and became friends in the Army in 1972 and were house mates when we were stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. Lance had a great sense of humor and was a very fun person to be around. Margie met Lance in 1976, when Lance graciously agreed to come to Austin, TX to be a member of the wedding party. It was great time made more so by Lance. Margie and I extend our heartfelt condolences to Lance's family and Iowa friends. I will raise a glass to Lance on Friday the 18th!

Lance was a skilled communicator by finding humor in the most arcane places. The more difficult the struggle the funnier the one liners. I recall the football coaches creating a new end-of-the-year player award called the "Oil Can Award". The award wasn't given to the guy with the most rushing yards, touch downs or tackles. It was given to a guy who shared the bench with us smaller guys. The award went to a guy who kept a smile on your face through two a day practices and dark times. To a humble person whose strong doses of self-depreciating humor kept his friends and coaches in stitches. Nothing but fun memories. You will be missed my friend.

Too soon for a man I remember as full of life and free spirit. We were high school classmates and spent a lot of time together in sports as well as theatre. I have fond memories of many nights at his place in Toterville as well as visiting him in CO. Lots of nights as well in Marble Rock solving the world's problems. RIP my friend.

I am so sorry to hear about Lance. I went to high school with him, but got to know him better when he was an army buddy of my ex-husband. Lance was stationed in Colorado Springs and was in our wedding in Iowa in 1973. Fast forward many years and Lance came to visit us in Chicago Heights, IL, parking his big Winnebago in front of our house for over a week, in the1990s. It was so good to reconnect. Lance was a laid back, fun loving, awesome guy. My deepest sympathy to his family!

I am very saddened to learn that Lance has passed away. Lance was one of my first bosses as I cooked for him and Cathy in the late 70's - early 80's when they owned Clanceys. So many wonderful memories were made at that time. Lance was a fabulous boss, very conscientious. I will always remember him teaching me how to know the rare ribeyes from medium and well done by the way they felt using tongs rather than cutting them open witb a steak knife. I appreciated the opportunity I was given to be a Clanceys employee RIP good friend.

I was very fortunate to have served my two years in the Army with Lance. We were in the same Company in Basic Training, MP School and the 4th Inf. Division M.P.’s at Fort Carson. We shared many great times together in Colorado Springs and hanging out in the mountains on Old Gold Camp Road; sometimes a nightly routine. Lance’s friendship and comic relief made time pass quickly. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. I too, will raise a glass to Lance on the 18th.
