Tadd Earnest Nichols

Tadd Earnest Nichols passed away Feb. 4th 2018 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.  He was born in Eldora Iowa on August 31 1947 to Horace and Velma (Barnhart) Nichols.

He attended grade school in Owasa Iowa and graduated from the Iowa Falls High Schools in 1966.  He attended UNI and graduated in 1970 with a BA degree in Industrial Technology.  Tadd taught Industrial Technology at the Independence High School from 1970 – 1997.  He taught night adult welding classes and was assistant wrestling coach for 21 years.

On June 5 1970 he married Barbara Kressley of Cedar Falls Iowa.

Tadd was a member of the Indee Community Bible Church.  He taught Sunday school, worked with youth groups, and also served as a church deacon and trustee.  Because he enjoyed helping others his other interests and hobbies were also a way of sharing with others.  He enjoyed canoe camping and fishing.  Tadd was known as the neighborhood “Mr. Fix-it”.   His sense of humor and courage followed him all the way through his fight with PLS and ALS.

Tadd is survived by his wife Barbara (Kressley) of 47 years, a son Nathan of Sparta North Carolina, a twin brother, Tim Nichols (Marilyn) of Independence, Mark Nichols (Angie) of Fayetteville Arkansas.  Two sisters Leila (Marvin) Bower of Pittsburg Kansas and Mary (Peter) Mounifield of Rogers Arkansas.  Two grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren of North Carolina, many nieces and nephews. 

Tadd was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Velma (Barnhart) Nichols, one son Aaron in infancy, and a daughter Naomi (Mike) Mussman.

Visitation will be held Fri. Feb. 9th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Indee Community Bible Church located at 301 2nd street SE, Independence Ia.  The funeral will be Sat. Feb. 10 at 1:30 at the Indee Community Bible Church.
