Leon Melsha
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family Jeff!! Always celebrate his wonderful memories!!
I'll never forget the countless good times I had with the Melsha family growing up. Diane & Tunnie were like second parents to me. I remember all the good times my parents, & Diane & Tunnie had, with us kids running around having fun, at the Lighthouse, or for that matter, everywhere we went. Especially when we all piled into the Jeep for a ride. I’ll always remember Tunnie holding his can of Budweiser beer. He sure loved beer! Those were the days! I often think about them. My most sincere condolences to all the Melsha family. Tunnie was one of a kind. He’ll be missed! Jim McCormick
sorry for your loss of your dad . my thoughts and prayers are with u and the whole family in this time of loss .
So sorry for your loss. Truly enjoyed all the visits with Tunnie and Diane from way back when I tended bar until the last time I ran into them at 2nd Street Station. Was always interesting conversation and cold beer!
My heart felt condolences to the family during this difficult time. He was a character and will be dearly missed.
I never knew his name was Leon he was always Tunnie to me, so sorry for your loss and sending prayers to the family especially Diane and Jeff as they were always so kind to me when I worked at Little Bohemia all those years ago. Tunnie was such a pistol when I worked for him always making sure I poured the beer right and would make sure I would sweep up after work and I think he was always the last customer of the night as he loved to have fun.
Dear Melsha Family, Sorry for your loss of Tunnie. Every time I think back on how I got to where we now live, I think of Tunnie Melsha. I met Tunnie in 1985 when I was working as a line mechanic at Coca Cola bottling in Cedar Rapids. Tunnie and Pub came in to do some refrigeration work. He asked me if I would be interested in working a part time job at Millstream Brewery in Amana. He told me they were looking for a mechanic to help start up their bottling line. I was hired and worked there part time for about two years. I earned enough money to put a down payment on the small acreage where we live near Swisher. If it weren't for Tunnie I don't know where we would have ended up living and I doubt we would be as happy as we are living here. God Bless Tunnie. I did not know him that well but I know he was easy to laugh with, kind and very intelligent. He had more knowledge than anyone whom I had met and was considerate enough to pass his knowledge on. I'm sure he will be missed a lot. I am grateful for having met him. He made a difference in my life and my family's life. My sincere condolences, David Speltz
Dearest Diane and Jeff and others. I did not know of Mr. Melsha passing until today when Jeff called me. I regret missing his celebration of life. I always called him Mr. Melsha; "Toonie" seemed appropriate for his closest friends! Although David told me the story of how he came by the nickname. The world is surely a less colorful place without him. Mindy
