Uncle Dick was one of a kind with a quick wit and never a dull moment. Donna and I will miss our instructional trips with you, Aunt Shirley and your friend, Mary to the casinos. Please give our love to all of the family when you pass through those Pearly Gates of Heaven. Love your nephew, Buddy and Donna

I was just planning a trip to Iowa when my brother gave me the news. I did get to see Uncle Dick a couple of years ago when we were up in Grundy Center, I'm fortunate of that visit. We talked about times of family history especially the military with my dad and him in the Navy. Uncle Dick was as close to me as my dad. We use to golf, fish, and hunt mushroom together when I was young living in Waterloo. He would send me a case of Redman chewing tobacco every once in a while and him and Aunt Shirley would always send me 5.00 on my birthday. I loved him dearly. He was always high spirited and light-hearted. That's why I think everyone in Iowa and beyond knew Uncle dick. Will never forget the trips he and family made to Texas to see us. There's really not a day that goes by that I don't think of Uncle Dick and my dad. They were my rock. Love ya Uncle Dick and see ya on the other side.
