Janet Lee Parker

Janet Lee Parker, 61, of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements, with a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Lee Wathen of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Stephanie (Tony) Walton of West Falls, New York; brother, Jeff Parker of Houston, Texas; 3 nieces, Reed, Lauren and Haley; great nephew, Alexander Walton; and loving family and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet Lee Parker was born on July 13, 1953 to Dewey and Jean (Walter) Parker in St. Louis, Missouri.  She graduated from Mount Mercy University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  Janet proudly worked as a psychiatric nurse for many years in Texas.

She enjoyed her home and family, as well as crafting and baking, especially decorating cakes for special events. Janet loved to entertain friends and family and was known for her wit and humor.  She was artistic, funny, generous and compassionate.   The greatest joy and love in Janet’s life was her daughter, Jennifer Lee.  Janet’s love, laughter, strength and guidance will be greatly missed.

Janet’s family would like to extend many thanks to all nurses, friends, and family who gave her support and showed her kindness. Also a special thanks to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
