Thomas Neil Tietjens

My dad, Larry McGreevey, and Tom were good friends years ago when I was young. I loved it when Tom and Dad were together - they had so much fun. I was about 12 and had a big crush on Tom! ;-) He reminded me of Glen Campbell for some reason. I see he never lost that great smile and twinkle in his eye, such a handsome man! I'm saddened at his loss at such a young age - I know he will be greatly missed and I just wanted to send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Our prayers are with you. I am so saddened about the death of Tom. We were grade school and high school classmates. Tom was so much fun to sit next to and was a guarantee there would be fun when the nuns turned their back. I last saw him after he returned from Vietnam and was able to spend time with him and other friends hearing about his experiences in the war. His light shines brightly. Peace and Joy to you, Tom!! Dear Tietjens Family, I hope you get this 10 years over due condolence. I was a pen pal to Tom while he was Viet Nam, his first tour of duty. I have 10 letters from him that are so kind and dear. One was sad because his friend died, I believe Tom was on the radio when the call for help came in. His hand writing was beautiful and his words were wise as he shared tips for life. It would seem that his life was spent serving people, caring for others. There was no mention of a wife or children and that made me sad. He told me he almost got married right before he left for Viet Nam but thought better to wait because a year away just married didn’t make sense. He was a kind older brother figure to me. His goodness came through his words. I’d like for someone in the family to have these letters. I’ve saved them. If you’ll email me. I’ll send you my phone number, and the letters. I bet you all still miss him greatly. I felt such a sadness to know he had departed. Sincerely, Pammy Markle
