Charles "Chuck" A. Kitchell

Sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. Although I only knew him in high school, I well remember him telling me about his beagle. I have always been a dog lover also. I always had very good thoughts about him. I considered him a good friend. My condolences to the family.

You have my deepest sympathy. I taught with Chuck, at Buchanan, starting in 1980, and enjoyed having him as my colleague. He'd have his beagle in his office or storage area and treat the primary kids to the "new pup" experience. I often wish that someone here at Jackson would find a similar method to reduce milk waste as Chuck did by letting the dogs consume it. His "dry" sense of humor was appreciated, as was his positive attitude toward life. He was a gem!

Dear Donna and Family, I was so sorry to read of Chuck's passing. You have my deepest sympathy. The last time I saw him was in the late fall or January (before my going back to Thailand) at our '52 class luncheon in Pekin. We had a good conversation, he looked great. We thanked him for coming such a long way. He was always upbeat, happy, ready to talk about his wonderful family and, of course, his dogs. Our '52 class will miss him, especially this fall as we celebrate our 80th birthdays. We want you to know you are always welcome at any of our gatherings, in his stead. Blessings, Marge Smalley

Donna, I am so sad, as are we all. Chuck was a remarkable man with his charming wit, brevity and humor. I am going to include some of my favorite "Chuckisms" on his page in the September issue of Show Beagle Quarterly. His column was well regarded and well read each issue, as we both well know. The photo you provided is one of my all time favorites. I am so happy to have it to share with the readership, most of whom he was personally acquainted with. All will clearly see in it his deep love for his Beagles. My heart goes out to you and the rest of the family. He is, in fact, Chardon's Unforgettable.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I did not know chuck, but heard lots of great stories from family member of what a warm hearted man he was. He will live on in all their hearts.

Donna and family, I am so sorry for your loss of Chuck. He was one of a kind. I will never forget the dog show in Madison, WI I could hardly pull my dad away from Chuck. To this day I do not know if my dad paid for the puppy he got us from Chuck that week-end or if Chuck gave him the puppy for us. Guess we will never know now. But it was the start of a great friendship. Now Chuck and my dad can catch up again and contiune their conversation. The Beagle world lost a Great man and he will be missed by many. Dear Donna, Mike, Family, My sympathies on Chucks passing. He was a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather. What a wonderful educator he was to so many children. He had such patience as a coach. We know he fought hard to recover, with his loving family by his bedside. You are in our thoughts and prayers. He has left a great legacy in his family and community. He is forever in our hearts. God bless Linda & Dale

Donna & Family, Please accept our dearest condolences on Chucks passing. It is now 33 years since we first contacted you and Chuck, and not a year has gone past without some communication between us. His posts and folksy way of writing belied his enquiring and searching mind. I sometimes felt that at times he didn't quite understand my Aussie humour, but he took it all in good faith and our friendship continues. No words written by any of us will ever stop the the grief of his nearest and dearest, but we hope that you will always know that we offer a small salve to that grief. Vale "Chuck the Oracle", a good mate. Bill & Jeanette, Adabuf Beagles, Australia

My childhood hero from Sheridan Road in Pekin has now gone to the other side of the mountain. I called him Charlie and even though he was 10 years older than me I was sure we were very Best Buds. God Bless you Charlie and thanks for the memories. Ed Batton Bayfield, Wisconsin

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Chuck. I will miss him and his wonderful stories about his family, his homestead, and his Beagles. The Dog community has lost a tireless historian who cared so much for the sport of purebred dogs. I know there is Happy Beagling for Chuck and his old friends up there in what my Grandpa always called " The Happy Hunting Grounds."
