Patricia Ann Howell

Patricia Ann Howell, 73, died from her injuries in an automobile accident on Thursday, December 4, 2014 near Solon. A private funeral service and cremation was held for the family on Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at Saint Wenceslaus Church basement, Tuesday evening at 5-7pm.

Patsy was born to Louis Rozinek and Josephine Hartl at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids on February 20, 1941. She was the oldest of four farm children. She attended rural Honey Grove School until 8th grade, and Wilson High School in SW Cedar Rapids, where she met her future husband, Bunyan. Musically inclined, she gave lessons in piano and accordion. A member of Saint Wenceslaus Church her whole life, she was active in the choir and Saint Monica’s Group, baking kolaches. After high school, she worked at Collins Radio for three years. She married Bunyan T. Howell, Jr. on September 8, 1959. Together, they had two children, Brian and Lisa. She managed the Kerr McGee gas station by Hawkeye Downs from 1977 to 1990, and the Knights of Columbus Hall on Mount Vernon Road from 1991 to 2000.

Her love, humor, generosity, and fond memories are survived by her husband, Bunyan; her children, Brian Howell of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Tim) Hinricher of New Prague, MN; her grandchildren, Samantha (Logan) Cox, Tyler Howell, Madison Howell, Zachery Hinricher, Rebecca Hinricher, and Bailey Hinricher; her mother, Josephine Rozinek; her sister, Rose (Bob) Carlo; and her brother, Ed Rozinek. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis; and her brother, John (Bernita) Rozinek.
