James "Jim" Aspinall
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
I have not seen Jim in over 20 years, and yet just last week I was relating to a friend a few good memories of Jim. He always had a way to make me laugh, but more importantly, he had a peaceful way about him and helping those around him. I think Jim was truly Christ-like in this regard. Of course I remain impressed with his love of the old rock legends, and knowing all their contributions to our musical legacy. :) I am so sorry to hear about this unexpected bad news, and will be sure to offer prayers on his behalf. --Mike Ament
My thoughts and prayers are with you Marcia and family during this difficult time. Jim was a very kind man, who always made people smile and feel welcome. His presents will always be with our St. Elizabeths family and we will miss him dearly at the Abbe Center. Teresa Daubtiz
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
I remember Jim Aspinall very well, Jim and I used to play guitar & Bass Guitar together to songs and genres like 1960's & 1970's pop/rock and the Beatles Jim's favorite guitars were the Rickenbacker Electric guitar and the Rickenbacker Electric bass Guitar. Jim also taught me how not to "label" people and other things and also look at things more openly instead of being too closed minded sometimes. Jim I'm really going to miss you and like you always told me I'll keep on rocking in the free world. Respectfully, your friend Nic Meineke.
I worked with Jim for several years at the Abbe Center in Vinton. He was truly a lovely person who never failed to show compassion to his clients and was warm and caring with co-workers. He will be missed by everyone at the Abbe Center and all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor, loved talking about his family, and never seemed to have a bad day. My prayers will be with you his family. What a comfort it is to know that someday we will all be together again in our father's kingdom. Take care and God bless! Melody Spence
Marsha, Aaron and Jacob, May God give you His strength as you journey though the next few days and weeks ahead. God bless you all!
We were very sorry to hear of Jim's illness and passing. We enjoyed his company when he was at UNI. He was even kind enough to take one of our kids to a heavy metal concert in the UNI-Dome. We always looked forward to the family Christmas letter and pictures. Our thoughts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with Marsha, Aaron and Jacob and Uncle Jim and Mary Jo, Julie, Art, and Jean and families. Sorry we were not at his service today but I didn't catch the notice in the Cedar Rapids paper until this afternoon.
Marsha, Aaron and Jacob. So sorry to hear of Jim's/ your father's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with now. Take care - Connie & Drew Hartl
I was a former client of your husband/father for two years when I lived in my hometown of Vinton before leaving to live in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area in 2007. If I recall, it was 2005 until 2007 when I seen him as a client at the Vinton branch of the Abbe Center. He was a remarkable man of God, as well as one of the most terrific therapists I had. I am most terribly sorry for your loss. I know that words comfort a soul. But I want you to know that he saved my life and got me to look at the bigger picture in my own life. But I never got the chance to thank him personally for it. I know that the passing of a loved one is never easy. I had to do this two years ago when I lost my father. Sometimes I catch myself saying the same quips and quotes my father said to me. So, do not be saddened if you catch yourselves doing this. Always make it a way of thinking, feeling, and believing that he is always going to be with you, even after his passing. As a fellow believer in our Lord and Savior, I will be praying for you during this time of grieving and loss in your lives. And always know that you will see him again in the next life--the eternal life. May God bless you all, and I will be thinking of you during your loss. Your Sister in Christ, Gina LaHue
I have such fond memories of Jim from our days with St. Pius Young Adults. Jim was often a willing participant in a low impact game of tennis and always had a smile on his face and kind words for others. His gentle spirit was an inspiration. My heartfelt thoughts are with Marsha and all of Jim's family and friends. We have all been touched by his good life and kindness. His spirit will continue to be with those he loved.
Jim worked with many of our mutual clients in the Jones County Area. He was a thoughtful man and will be missed! Sincerely, Lucia Herman, Deb Schultz, Nancy Fahey, Stephanie Bildstein, Diane McElmeel, Jan Dole Jones County Community Services Anamosa, Iowa
