Obituary for Maybelle Mays

Maybelle Mays, 83 of 4111 Lexington Dr. NE died Wednesday February 8, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. Per Maybelle''s request there will be no service. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a son, Marvelton Smith and three daughters, Marcia, Vera and Elizabeth Mays all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Maggie Gibson. Maybelle was born on November 10, 1928 in Sheridan, Arkansas the daughter of Horace and Estella Ethridge Mays. She was the assistant shipping manager at Penfield Press in Iowa City and retired from there after more than 20 years of service. Maybelle enjoyed fishing, crocheting, going to Tama with her friends and especially the time she spent with her beloved family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
