Janice Marie Embree

Janice Marie Embree, 74, of Gering, Nebraska, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Heritage Estates in Gering following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held Saturday February 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Heritage Estates chapel in Gering with a memorial service in Creston, IA to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janice''s name to Heritage Estates. Janice Marie Embree was born February 19, 1937 in Creston, Iowa to Orville and Ethel (Anderson) Madison. She attended Creston High School in Creston, Iowa where she graduated in 1955. On February 17, 1957 she was united in marriage to Carl Embree at the Methodist Church in Creston. Carl and Janice lived in Nebraska City, NE, Malta, IL and Monmouth, IL before settling in Scottsbluff, NE in 1967. She moved to Atlantic, IA with Carl in 1989. After Carl''s passing, she lived with her brother, Robert and his wife, Jorita in Iowa and Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed extensive traveling with them. In 2008, Jan moved to the Scottsbluff-Gering area to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Jan worked with the Radiology Department at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for many years. She was a past member of the Elks lodge as well as active with 23 Club Baseball in her earlier years. Jan''s other interests included reading, movies, crafts and Nebraska football, as well as making new friends everywhere she went. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children, Curt Embree and wife Denise of Lincoln, Nebraska, Craig Embree and wife Jan of Galax, Virginia, and Carla Embree of Westminster, Colorado; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex, Brooke, and Brad; her siblings, Gordon Madison and wife Kathleen, Wayne Madison, Richard Madison and wife Joann, Robert Madison and wife Jorita, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Orville Madison and her husband, Carl.
