Carol A. Ridenour
Carol A. Ridenour, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha from ALS (Lou Gehrig''s disease).
A memorial service celebrating Carol''s life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Paul''s United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer officiating. A memorial gathering will be from 9:00-10:30 am Saturday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; three sons, Larry (Kathie), Scott (Lisa) and Steven (Jody) Grekoff all of Cedar Rapids; step-son, Rick Ridenour (Lora) of Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Matthew, Maggie, Patrick, Spencer, Ross, Regan, Adam and Brian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Peter Grekoff, sister, Ellen and a step-daughter, Faith Ann Ridenour.
Carol Anna Chester was born August 30, 1937 in Waverly, IA, the daughter of Elmer and Edith (Stickman) Chester. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1955. On June 24, 1956 she married Peter Grekoff in Plainfield, IA. Peter died July 20, 1976. She then married Richard Ridenour on July 28, 1978 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Carol was a member of St. Paul''s United Methodist Church where she was church secretary for 25 years. Carol was a member of several groups including: United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle at St. Paul''s UMC, KUM Double Sunday School Class at St. Paul''s UMC, P.E.O. Chapter LI, Marion Musical Literary Club and Rapid Squares square dancing club. Carol will be remembered for her gentle, kind personality, her strong family values and her deep faith in the Lord.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul''s United Methodist Church or Hospice of Mercy.
The family would especially like to thank Hospice of Mercy for all the love and support that was given.
