Cassie was the light of our lives. Catherine “Cassie” Linneia Langstaff, 49, of Fort Dodge, IA died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Manson Northwest Webster High School, Manson, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the Manson Northwest High School. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. Survivors include her daughters, Mariel (Steve) Mandelko of Omaha, NE, Tawni Langstaff and Cassie Mae Langstaff, both of Ft. Dodge; step-daughter, Amanda (David) LaGue of Clear Lake, IA; granddaughter, Magnolia Ray Mandelko; mother, Catherine Lind of Des Moines; siblings, Therese (James) Benson of Dallas Center, IA, Regina (Doug) Nassif of Cedar Rapids, Roberta (Brent) Mechler of Parkland, FL, R.W. (Heide) Lind of Belleville, IL, Kevin (Christine) Lind of Urbandale, IA and Susan (Bryan) Stearns of Urbandale, IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, R.W. Lind, husband Mark Langstaff on December 14, 2010 and two children, Nicholas and Caitlin. Catherine L. Lind was born March 16, 1962 in Spencer, IA the daughter of R.W. and Catherine (Whall) Lind. She graduated from Laurens/Marathon High School. She attended Coe College, Iowa Central Community College and graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in Music Education and Theatre. On October 21, 1988, she married Mark Langstaff in Las Vegas, NV. Cassie had many hobbies including singing, the performing arts, reading and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Maggie. Cassie saw the worth in every student and inspired them to recognize their own potential. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be sent to the Catherine L.
