Obituary for Raymond J. Hamer

Raymond J. Hamer, 63 of 345 Leisure Blvd. NE died Wednesday March 16, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital of cancer. A memorial gathering for Ray will be held on Sunday, April 3rd from 1 - 3 PM in the Five Seasons Mobile Home Community Center, 3421 Blairs Ferry Road NE, Cedar Rapids. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, two sons, Thomas and Tim both of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, Larry of Cedar Rapids, Richard of Marion and a sister, Lee Schwarting of Williamsburg. He is also survived by a grandson, Domenik, niece, Becky of Oxford, three nephews, Art Hamer of Iowa City, David and Dennis Hamer both of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ray was born on November 11, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Lloyd and Lorraine Hamer. He married Carolyn Fresh on January 13, 1973 in Cedar Rapids. Ray was a machinist . He proudly served in two tours in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
