Dr. Eugene Sheldahl
Dr. Eugene W. Sheldahl, 94, of Raymond, died on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 am at the Raymond United Methodist Church on Monday, February 14th with Pastor Marvin Cleair officiating. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Dr. Eugene Wesley Sheldahl was born on April 17, 1916 to Louie and Alvina Tjernagel Sheldahl in Huxley, Iowa. He received his osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University. He practiced in the Clemons area for many years. He was united in marriage to Edna Slaughter on November 20, 1942 in Minburn. Dr. enjoyed bowling, golfing, and pitching horse shoes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna; 2 daughters, Pam (Mike) Flanders of Raymond; Paula (Don) Riley of Summerfield, FL; 4 grandchildren, Dustin Hubbard of Littleton, CO; Sean (Jen) Hubbard of Wakefield, MA; Erica (Michael) Brown of Cedar Rapids; and Trent Flanders of Waterloo; and 1 great grandson, Ethan Hubbard.
Dr. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Duane Sheldahl.
Memorial donations may be directed to Raymond Methodist Church in Raymond or the Salvation Army.
