Barbara A. "Betty" Smith, 62, of Anamosa passed away Monday June 14, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Patrick''s Catholic Church in Anamosa. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Forrest "Frosty", one daughter, Sheila (Chad) Machart of Anamosa, and her mother, Rita Bonert; three grandchildren, McKenzie, David, and Lilly. Three stepchildren, Gene (Carlene) Vey of Albany, Oregon, Mark (Dana) Smith and Janet Smith both of Evanston, Wyoming. Two brothers, Ronnie (Gail) Bonert and Steve (Jane) Bonert; sister, Mary (Arnie) Allamand; and sister-in-law, Patty Bonert. Numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Leo, two brothers, Carl and Jerome and two nephews, Mark Allamand and Cory Bonert. Betty was born on December 18, 1947 in Manchester, the daughter of Leo and Rita Hargrafen Bonert. She graduated from Delhi Maquoketa Valley High School and was a member of St. Patrick''s Catholic Church. She married Frosty Smith on October 27, 1989 in Anamosa. Betty worked at Rockwell-Collins for 40 years, retiring in 2006. Among her many interests were touring the country on a Gold Wing, lawn and garden work and spending time with family and friends. Her bubbly and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Betty''s name.
