Martin Charles Bruene

Martin C. Bruene, 84, of Gladbrook, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 2, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at the United Methodist Church in Gladbrook. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. Martin Charles Bruene was born on October 25, 1926 in Tama County to Wesley and Irene Flamme Bruene. He was united in marriage to Joyce Gillette on March 14, 1949 at Forest Lawn in Glendale California. Martin, a 1943 graduate of Gladbrook High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed old cars, antique farm tractors, and his mules. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce; 3 children, Elizabeth (Steven) Hooper of Warren, OR; Jeffry (Cheryl) Bruene of Gladbrook; and April Bruene of College Station, TX; 1 brother, Morris Bruene of Gladbrook; 2 grandsons, Douglas and David Bruene both of Gladbrook. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice House, 2101 Kimball Ave # 401, Waterloo, Iowa 50702 or Cedar Valley Hospice Grundy Center Branch, 310 E Avenue, Grundy Center, Iowa 50638.
