Clayton E. (Gene) Rockhold, 66, of Keokuk, IA, died June 23, 2009 on his farm. Survivors include his wife Mary of Keokuk; sons Rick (Charity) Rockhold and Greg (Carol) Rockhold all of Memphis, MO; step-children Jeffery (Kathy) Stone of Kahoka, MO and Teresa (Michael) Canaday of Stockport, IA; grandchildren Mathew Rockhold, Levi Rockhold, Jeffrey Claman, Drew Canaday, Barbara (Seth) Dunnett and Jeff (Ashley) McBee; 6 sisters Pauline Becker, Ida Mae Franklin, Martha Martin, Ruthie Sears, Lillie Jordon and Carol Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Virgil and a sister, Ilene. Clayton was born June 22, 1943 in rural Memphis, MO, the son of Noah and Beulah (Glass) Rockhold. He was married to Lenna Hooper and to this union 2 sons were born. On August 2, 2003, he married Mary McAfee in Keokuk, IA. Clayton worked for several years in maintenance. His great enjoyment was farming, particularly baling hay, which he was enjoying the day he passed. He also enjoyed hunting with his beagles and showing off his Halflinger horses and mule colts. Above all his greatest enjoyment was his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Due to Gene’s last wishes, there will not be a memorial service but a family gathering to be announced later. Memorials can be sent to the family at 2145 Johnson St Rd, Keokuk, IA 52632.
