Barbara Kay Flint

Barbara Kay Flint, 72, of 3812 Antelope Trail NE, died at her home, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, July 7, 2009. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 14, 2009 at FUMC, Marion. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Roger; sons, Lee (Sue) Flint of Decatur, IL, Paul (Heather) Flint of Anchorage, AK, and Allen (Stephanie Scudder) Flint of Greensboro, MD; brother, James (Norma) Wallace of Lake View; sister, Glenda Bacon of Oak Lawn, IL; and grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Addison, Karlin, and Coal. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Gladys Wallace and stepsister, Gail Bengtson. Barbara was born September 13, 1936 in Cherokee to Leverne and Lucena Wallace. She married Roger Flint there on February 14, 1960. She graduated from Cherokee High School in 1954 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for three years in the Cedar Rapids School District and later in the Linn-Mar School District. She retired in 1987. Barbara and Roger enjoyed, biking with the Renegades Club, traveling across several states. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and was an avid bird watcher. She particularly liked being in the outdoors. Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and the Hoover School Bridge Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
