Loretta J. Reed

For 5 years our family had a standing Friday night date in the summer and fall with Jane as our older son took horseback riding lessons. He learned a lot about horses and riding, but we all learned a lot about life through Jane's incredible positive outlook. She was a treasure. We wish to extend our sympathy to her family and close friends.

Jane was the one-of-a-kind individual we encounter during our lifetime. When extended family visited she took great pride in showing her animals, trophies and ribbons. She delighted in sharing stories with nieces and nephews. She was a unique person and will be missed by all.

The first time I met Janie, was at a neighborhood meeting/picnic years ago. We were somewhat new to the area and I figured I'd get some flak for putting a motocross track right dab in the middle of "horse back country". Well, up comes this little old lady, who I totally expected to let me have an ear full on the noise or dust we would kick up, and the first words out of her mouth were "I just love the sound of those 2 stroke motobikes you have! I sure wish I could come over and watch you boys ride!". That was Janie. She was the definition of "free spirit" with a love for life and a wonderful story for every occassion. I will miss the many stories and her ever present smile but I feel privileged to have known such a unique person as her...... Thank you Janie for just being you, our neighborhood lost a small piece of sunshine the day you left. -Jim Steinke and family

Aunt Jane, I will always remember you as a wonderful and positive person with a smile on your face all the time. I have fond memories of horseback riding at your place and you helping the nieces and nephews make homemade ice cream at the Weiss reunions. You will be missed by all. Love, Jenny and Nick Otersen

Our dear Jane, All my life you've been a wholly unique figure to us; no one else like our Aunt Jane. Thanks for teaching us to question authority, to spit in the eye of "no" and "you shouldn't do that" and "what will other people think?" To kick back and take it easy, but to never slack off on pursuing our ambitions. To play hard, but work harder. To live by the golden rule. And to never lose yourself or stop loving the beauty in all that God gave us, all around us... …Horses …Guitars …Starry nights …Good friends …Long, dusty roads to the next stop on this journey. We'll never forget the times we've spent together. Thank you, dear Janie. We love you, for you're a part of us in our very core. Yours forever, --Steve & Beth

While visiting Aunt Jane’s house for a Weiss family reunion, an enormous and perfect rainbow appeared in the field behind the house, just after a rainfall. Out of nowhere, a beautiful white mustang galloped into view. This wild, carefree, untamable spirit surrounded by this symbol of beauty and perfection. That will forever be how I remember Aunt Janie, as a wild, carefree, untamable spirit who inspired those around her to just be who they were and to love every moment of it. We love you Aunt Janie and will miss you always! Anna, Brian & Mallory Kolin

Aunt Jane~ Some of my fondest family memories were spent at your place. Horseback riding, parades, admiring your carvings, and listening to stories by the fire. You were a joy to be around and we couldn't help but smile when you were around. You will be missed dearly! Love~ Janel and Marc Luker

Aunt Jane- Always fun and unpredictable. Always gracious extending her home to us when we visited; spontaneous; smiling; loving; animal lover; one who saw her glass as always half full.

I had the pleasure and the "pain" of working with Jane at APAC for many years before she retired. I was her supervisor at times. Doesn't that just make you chuckle? Like anyone could be Janes' supervisor. Someone said she was a wild, carefree and untamable spirit. That for all who knew her was where my pain came from, or pain as I perceived it at the time. What I finally realized after she retired was that she was testing and teaching me. Testing me to see if I was truly the person I said I was and teaching me how to be that person with humility. Jane truly was a wise, stand-up lady and ultimately a pleasure to work with. To her family and friends, I express my condolences.

Jane has been my dear friend for the past 10 years every since I met her working at APAC. She was truly the smartest woman I have ever met. She was a mentor to me and respected the fact that I had served in the military and always called me "chief". Even though she was much older than me, we were so much alike-both strong, hard-working & independent women taking care of ourselves and I think that is what drew us together. I also introduced Jane to my mother Merle who was about the same age and they became friends.Jane and I had many great times together and I will truly miss her wisdom, spirit and character!! I love you Jane!!!
