Obituary for Loretta J. Reed

(Loretta) Janie Reed, 76, died, December 29, 2009 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A memorial service will be held at New Life Baptist church, 7780 West Locust Street, Davenport, Iowa on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 3:30 pm. Honoring Janie''s wishing her body will be cremated, and there will be no visitation. Janie was born on June 27, 1933 in Sturgis, Michigan. She is the daughter of Clair and Nellie Weiss (deceased). Jane married Herman Reed in September of 1954. They divorced in 1976. She is a member of New Life Baptist Church of Davenport, Iowa. Janie loved her animals, especially her horses. She was an active member of QCAB Horse Association, and a member of MENSA. Her hobbies include wood carving, horseback riding, and spending time storytelling with her many friends. Janie is survived by her daughter Joan (Gary) Moorhead, Blue Grass, Ia. son, Jim (Marsha) Reed Wichita, KS. Grandson, Eric (Nikki) Moorhead Blue Grass, IA. Mary (Jon) Erskine, Morrison, Co., Matthew, Robert, Delilah, and Victoria Reed, Wichita, KS, and great grandson Landen Smith, Blue Grass, IA. Sister Marylou (Kenneth) Hester, Leewood, KS. Brother Elwyn (MaryAnn) Weiss, West Lafayette, In. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister in law bob and Virgie Weiss, Petersburg, MI, and a sister Ruth Weiss, Shipshewana, IN.
