Joan Heath, 86, of Anamosa, died Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Anamosa Care Center. Friends and family may call at the home of Robert and Gwen Fuller on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Joan Heath was born in Washington, Iowa, on August 5, 1923 to Thomas and Naomi Gerdes. She graduated from St. Luke’s of Nursing and did private duty nursing in New York City during WWII. She retired in 1982 after 20 years as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, and a brother, Claire. Joan is survived by 3 children, Gwen Fuller of Anamosa; Thomas Michael Heath of Mt. Vernon; and Pat Weaver of Janesville, WI; 3 grandchildren, Jeannette Smock of Lisbon and Rachel and Curtis Weaver both of Janesville, WI; and 2 sisters, Winifred Polis of Washington, IA and Esther Livingston of Lititz, Pennsylvania.
