Roger Allen Whited

Roger Allen Whited, 49, of Marengo, formerly of Dubuque and Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, following a short illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 PM Saturday in the First Church of the Open Bible in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Friends may call at the church after 2 PM on Saturday. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern, Central, and Western Iowa. Survivors include his parents Don and Geri Whited of Cedar Rapids, a sister Sandee (Mark) Steinberg of Marion, aunts and uncle, Betty and Don Schmidt of Marion, and Jean Whited of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle Earl Whited. Roger was born on December 1, 1958 in Cedar Rapids. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a self employed painting contractor. He enjoyed playing golf at the Emerald Canyon in Western Arizona. He also enjoyed gardening, flowers, cats, fishing, and hunting. While in the Navy he was trained as a chef and chauffer. Roger never met a stranger. He knew how to win your heart no matter what. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
