John Russell Lowe

John Russell Lowe, 85, of Waterloo, died Saturday morning, September 1, 2007 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House, Waterloo, following an extended illness. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Payne AME Church, Waterloo with Pastor Joseph Baring officiating. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Colleen Joy Lowe of Waterloo; Son, Ronald Paul Lowe of Waterloo; Daughters, Gail Russell Worrell of Zion, IL, Shari McGhee of Waterloo; Brothers, Walter E. Lowe of Milford, VA, James E. Lowe of Petersburg, VA; Sisters, Alice Bynum of Washington D.C., Gladys DeVane of Lexington, KY. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Kindalle Kbrown, Reginald McGhee, Ryan Worrell & Johnathan McGhee. John was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister. John Russell Lowe was born June 24, 1922 in Waverly, VA the son of Juber & Eva (Hill) Lowe. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart after his service to his country. On December 24, 1956 he married Colleen Joy Moore in Preston, MN. John was a school administrator in the Waterloo Community School District for many years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Cedar Valley Hospice, 2001 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA 50702
