James Ivan Rose
Susie and I had the pleasure of knowing Jim both socially and professionally. I wish I had his talent for writing....then I would be able to express how we enjoyed knowing Jim....And how much we will miss him. R.I.P James Ivan.....even though you won't be writing anymore.....everytime i read the sportspage....I'll still look at it "Through Rose Colored Glasses." XOXO JK AND SK
I had the pleasure of reading Jim's work for years while I worked n Mt. Pleasant. I also was able to be a partner in golf league with him one summer. It was a summer that I think about a lot. It was certainly a blast each week. Mt. Pleasant will miss Jim and his insight! Tom Dean La Grange Missouri
Jim appeared as the program at the Evening Rotary Club over thirty years ago. He mentioned that he always avoided mentioning a high school player's name if that player made a mistake. I read every story he ever wrote after that, and it is true. His story would say: "the Panthers drove to the Fort Madison 20 yard line ,but a fumble turned the ball over to the bloodhounds." That says everything about Rosie. His writing proved we had the best sports writer in Iowa in our town, but he managed to do it in a way that wouldn't criticize a player. He was my partner in Thursday night golf league one year. It was a fun summer! I'll miss him. We'll all miss him. Sports will miss him. Thanks Rosie!
