Harold E. Woodford, 91, of Lisbon, Iowa died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Washington Christian Village in Washington, Illinois. Per his wishes, Harold was cremated. There is no service planned. Woody is survived by his daughter Sue Hein of Peoria, IL; two grandsons Scott (Krista) Quackenbush, Lake Villa, IL, and Steve Hein, Peoria, IL; two granddaughters Jill (Dan) Hogberg, Key West, FL, Lisa (Toby) Hutchison, Minier, IL; Twin Great granddaughters Sara & Kelsey Quackenbush, Lake Villa, IL; sister Joan Wieneke, Phoenix AZ; nephews Steve (Pat) Woodford; Alec (Jean) Woodford; nieces Jan Wieneke, Phoenix, AZ; Maryanne (Bob) Jilovec, Mechanicsville, IA. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Rosella Woodford, brother E. Wayne Woodford. Harold E. Woodford was born October 22, 1914 to Jesse and Rosella (Babbitt) Woodford in Iowa City, Iowa. He married Dorothy Short on August 17, 1971 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He owned and operated the Lighthouse Inn in Cedar Rapids for many years retiring in 1975 when he moved to Guttenburg IA. Moving to Lisbon in 1999. Harold served in the United States Navy Seabees in France & England during WW II and was honorably discharged. Woody passed on his love of nature to family and friends and that is one of his lasting legacies. He shared his passion for the outdoors, hunting fishing, Indian motorcycles and days spent as a “river rat” on his beloved Mississippi River with all. Memorials may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation and World Wildlife Fund in his name.
