David R. Adams

David R. Adams: 49, of 6912 Kent Drive N.E., died early Monday morning, January 23 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a courageous battle with a rare cancer. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 25 at the Cedar Memorial Family Center and Library. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 28 in David’s hometown of Chamberlain, South Dakota. David is survived by his wife, Roberta, a son Nathan at home, his mother Erma Adams in Chamberlain, South Dakota, 7 brothers, Jerry Adams and wife Sue of Norfolk, Nebraska, a brother, Mike Adams and wife Cathy of Kansas City, Missouri, Tom Adams and wife Patty of Lead, South Dakota, Pat Adams of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bill Adams and wife Cindy of Chamberlain, South Dakota, Paul Adams and wife Carol of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Don Adams and wife Cheryl of Hartford, South Dakota and two sisters, Jackie Carlson of Seattle Washington and Pamela Thiel and husband Paul of Rancho Mirage, California. David was preceded in death by his father and two brothers. David was born May 28, 1956 in Chamberlain, South Dakota, the son of Harold and Erma (Yarian) Adams. He graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1974 and then from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. David married Roberta Thompson on August 12, 1978 in Chamberlain, South Dakota. David and Roberta resided in Des Moines for 16 years before moving to Cedar Rapids. He worked for APAC in Cedar Rapids for the last 11 years as Director of Network Services and Telephony. He was also a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. David dearly loved his family especially pheasant hunting with his brothers. He enjoyed golf, boating and many different sports with family and friends.
