I worked with Bert at both MCI and Alliant and only have the fondness of memeories. He was talented in his field and a real joy to have on a project team. We also enjoyed discussing the Hawkeye's. I'm so sad to hear of his passing, but know that I will always remember him and know that he is in a good place now where he will suffer no more.

I wish to express my condolences to Bert's family and friends. I first met Bert 12 years ago in Keokuk, and worked with him at Roquette, MCI, and Alliant Energy. More than a co-worker, he became a true friend. I will miss his honesty, his integrity, his caring, and yes, even his dry wit. Not to mention that he was one of the few guys that had enough patience to golf with me. I believe that we can all find solace in knowing that Bert is no longer in pain, and is at Home with his Lord.

To Bert's family and friends: I was very sorry to hear about Bert's illness and death. I worked closely with Bert while he was at Roquette America and enjoyed his joyfulness and sense of humor, even while he was going thru some tough medical issues. He had a true sense of love for his family, a loyalty to his friends, and an enjoyment of life. My prayers of friendship and support goes to Bert's family.

My sincerest sympathies are with Bert's family. I have known Bert for 30 years. I remember the days we use to play golf and racquetball. I remember that whatever he tried he gave it his fullest. What I mostly remember is his cheerful attitude and smiling disposition. He alway made me laugh. Even thought I have been in Arizona for the last 20 years, he still keeps me laughing with the e-mails he sends. This world was blessed by Bert's humor. I will truly miss this wonderful man.

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times, and to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body... are taken home to that God who gave them life... The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame. Families are forever.

I knew Bert from working at MCI. He was always in a cheerful mood and quick to make a joke. He didn't take himself or life too seriously and that made him a pleasure to work with. I fondly recall golfing with him many times in the golf league at Airport National. He didn't take his golf game too seriously either, which saved him a lot of grief! Just a great guy to be around. I will miss him.

Bert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Bert was my step-uncle but I always thought of him as my real uncle. He always knew how to make someone laugh. I was deeply saddened when I was notified of his illness. I was with him to the end and even still he would not give up. He wanted to fight this until the end. He loved every person around him and eveyone loved him. He would go to great lengths to help anyone. My condolences go out to my loving family and I hope everyone is doing ok. We love you very much Bert, and we already miss. RIP Bert

Our prayers are with Bert's family. We didn't even know he was ill until Monday, and before I could send a get well card, he was gone. I worked with Bert for several years while he was in Keokuk, and had many good times with him both at work and on the golf course. He will be missed.
