Robert Edward Simmons

I believe Robert E. Simmons Sr. is my biological grandfather if his son Robert Simmons died in July 1977, as I was told due to a motorcycle accident a week or so before my birth on 7/16/77 to biological mother Martha Kelley or Kelly which moved to California to live with her brother, where I was adopted at birth in San Diego. I recently started doing an ancestry search on both of my biological parents out of curiosity, as I am a mother of three. Minutes before finding this Obituary page for Robert Sr., I found this page that shares the Simmons moving to Iowa after the Civil War : Settlers XVIII: The Sones, Simmons and Stevenson Families: Elders, Patriots and Lumber Barons http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pasulliv/settlers/settlers18/settlers18.html My children only know about their dads side of the family and health history from Ohio. When I fill out medical charts at annual doctor visits/sports physicals for them I have to put "unknown" since I have no clue if anything runs in the family. I would just like to know if there is anything I should be aware of. I had a wonderful child hood and terrific parents that provided me with lots of unconditional love I have been blessed. My dad died in January 2005 as well as Robert Sr. and I know the pain of losing a father, the sorrow of my kids losing grandpa, and helping my mom with the funeral arrangements during our shock of my dads unexpected heart attack. Luckily both my parents 30 years of working on the Space Shuttle gave them company benefits which allow my family to live comfortably, although nothing can replace having my dad being here as I'm sure the surviving family members of Robert Sr. feel too. I have always known I was adopted but never felt I was missing anything or had any desire to meet my biological parents and family since I have such a great one of my own. I learned about the details of my adoption and biological parents when I was 16. They were from Iowa, my mom gave me the file
