Nancy Fredrikki Carson Cookes, 89, of Coralville, Iowa died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Lantern Park Nursing Home in Coralville, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Nancy graduated from Ollie, IA, high school, received degrees Iowa Wesleyan College and the University of Iowa. Her teaching career started in Mt. Vernon, IA with her own preschool, then to Washington, Mid Prairie, and Iowa City area schools. Nancy enjoyed all kinds of artistic endeavors, her family enjoys the legacy of her various paintings, drawings, and batiks. She enjoyed spending time with all of her grand & great grand children. Survivors include her one daughter, Jean Cookes Kincaid of Alexandria Bay, NY; three sons; Daniel (Candice) Cookes of Chippewa Bay, NY, Tim Cook of North Liberty, Vincent Cook of North Liberty, and one sister, Jessie McLean of Stuart, FL; grandchildren, Walter (Garland) Kincaid and Brice Kincaid of Boston, MA, Gisele (Russell) Ferguson of OK, Crystal Slach, Stacy (Tim) Jones of Iowa City area, Nicole Cookes of Fl., and 12 great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands Bud Cookes of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Darwin Cook of Mt. Vernon, IA; and Nick McCleery of Washington, IA. Nancy Fredrikki Cookes was born October 21, 1916 to Kit and Gertrude (Sonner) Carson in Custer, Montana. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Hospice in Nancy’s name.
