Thomas F. Muller

Thomas F. Muller, 78, of Iowa City, died Saturday, February 26th, 2005 at U of I Hospital after a short illness. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City. Survivors include his wife Barbara, Thomas F. Muller, Jr. (Tricia) (Centennial, Co), Sara A. Muller (Minneapolis, MN), John F. Muller (Kathy) (Chardon, OH), and Paul G. Muller (Minneapolis, MN). Also surviving are sisters; Mildred Nash (CA), Maude McCalley (Co), and brother Bill Muller (Ia); five grandchildren, Ian, Laura, Brianna, Meggan, and Evan. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Ambrose and Blanche Muller and older brother Larry. Tom was born August 30th, 1926 in Cedar Rapids to Ambrose and Blanche (Eret) Muller. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army. On June 9th, 1951, he married Barbara Ann Bode in Cedar Rapids. They celebrated 53 + years together. He began his career at Iowa Electric, managing offices in both Anamosa and Manchester Iowa. In 1969, Tom came to Iowa City to manage Seiferts Women’s Clothing Store from which he retired in the early 90’s. Tom belonged to many civic organizations through the years and was active in numerous projects wherever he lived. Most recently he spearheaded the drive to create the Irving Weber statue on Iowa Avenue, with the Lion’s Club of Iowa City. Tom’s enthusiasm and love for life showed in his positive attitude, the way he met life’s challenges, and his willingness to help others with theirs, and by offering advice and support. If there is one word that describes Tom Muller, it is “FANTASTIC!’ and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the charity of your choice.
