Marie Anna Kruger

Marie Anna Kruger, 92, a resident of Hillcrest Home, Sumner, died there Friday February 18, 2005 following a short illness. Private family services will be held. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Peterson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Beverly Thomsen of Sumner, Iowa, a granddaughter, Michele Smedley of Waterloo, Iowa, a grandson, Richard Thomsen of Little Canada, Minnesota, a great granddaughter, Tara Thomsen of Little Canada, Minnesota, two great grandsons, Aidan Thomsen of Little Canada, Minnesota and Isaac Anderson of Waterloo, Iowa. Her husband, Ernest Kruger, parents, Henry and Anna (Markman) Lammers, two brothers, Bill and Henry Lammers and a sister, Agnes Voyt preceded her in death. Marie was born March 15, 1912 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Anna Markman Lammers. She married Ernest Kruger on October 28, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa. He died in 1985. Marie moved to Sumner and became a resident of Hillcrest Home in 1990. Marie was a retired homemaker and also a veteran wreath maker of 35 years for the Michael Garden Center of Sioux City, IA. She was a member of the Christian Women''s Club, United Methodist Church of Sioux City and her favorite club for many years was the Sioux City Garden Club, which she often hosted. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing and cooking. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sumner Public Library and Hillcrest Home Inc. of Sumner, Iowa.
