Phillip James Van Dine, 78, 3460 Starlite Dr., Dubuque, IA died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA following a short illness. Memorial Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Asbury Community Chapel, 5025 Saratoga RD, Dubuque, IA. Survivors include his wife Susie; three sons, James Milum Van Dine of Dubuque, IA, Jon Milton Van Dine of Riverside, CA, and Jerold Marc Van Dine of Iowa City, IA; a daughter, Jana Marie Sopher of Seattle, WA; a sister, Betty Milum of Gardneville, NV; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his half brother, George Milum. Phillip was born April 7, 1925 in Kansas City, MO., and raised by John and Bertha (Phillips) Van Dine. He married Susie Elizabeth Stitt on June 2, 1945 at First Methodist Church in Dodge City, KS. He was a systems analyst and computer programmer in Albuquerque, NM, Wichita, KS, and Cedar Rapids, IA, but most recently for Hon Industries in Muscatine, IA until his retirement. He loved woodworking and furniture making. He served as a Merchant Marine during WW II. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.
