Obituary for W. Jeanne Nemec

W. Jeanne Nemec, 99, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at The Keystones of Cedar Rapids. 
Services will be held at a later date. 

Jeanne was born on January 30, 1927, in Olin, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Rose (Dolan) Glick.

Jeanne met the love of her life, George Nemec, and they were married in 1951. Together, they shared 49 years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories until his passing in 2000.

Jeanne found her true passion in nursing and dedicated 25 years of her life as a scrub nurse in the operating room. She took great pride in her work and in caring for others.

Outside of her career, Jeanne enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved golfing, traveling, walking, and participating in Bible study. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Jeanne will be remembered for her loving heart, caring spirit, strong faith, and the many lives she touched throughout her years. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Jeanne was preceded in death by parents and her husband George Nemec. 

Left to cherish Jeanne’s memory are her children, John (Dorothy) Nemec and Ann (Jay) Struve; her grandchildren, Laura (Adam), Blake (Emily), Hunter, Jacob (Cecilia), and Sophie; and her great-grandchildren, Micah, Moriah, and Maddon. She is also lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Keystones of Cedar Rapids and St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Jeanne and her family throughout her journey. Your kindness and dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jeanne’s memory to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or St. Croix Hospice.
