Obituary for Sandra K. Hanson

Sandra K Hanson, 82, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital. 

Services will be announced at a later date. 

Sandra was born on December 21, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Harry and Addalaide (Birdsal) Wright. On a beautiful day in November 1961, she married the love of her life, Richard Hanson. Together, they shared 58 years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion until Richard’s passing in 2020. Their marriage was blessed with five children, and Sandra cherished every moment spent caring for and supporting her family. In her free time, she loved to spend time with family, at the casino, playing uno, playing bingo, watching the Chicago Cubs and traveling. 

Sandra was preceded in death by parents and her husband Richard.  

Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by her family for generations. Left to honor her memory are her children, Richard Jr. (Karen) Hanson, Patty (Tom) Weiland, Rick Hanson, Robbie Hanson, and Rodney (Julie) Hanson; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
