Julie Eve DeForest Barber passed away on September 2, 2026, in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Woodpecker Lodge at Pinicon Ridge Park in Central City.
She was born on October 7, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Theodore and Dixie (Caldwell) DeForest. Julie served in the United States Marine Corp. She worked 10 years for Farmstead Foods in Cedar Rapids; 25 years for Cryovac in Cedar Rapids; and 15 years at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of IBEW Local 1362. Julie loved to garden, go shopping, and went to garage sales. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and adored her precious princess great-niece, Stevie Kaye Lien. Julie loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.
Julie is survived by her husband Joseph Barber, whom she married November 11, 2012, in Central City.; children, Joey Barber and Kim (Jason) Harford; grandchildren, Dylan Harford, Mia Barber and Jaden Barber; siblings, Bob DeForest, Teddie (Kirby) DeForest Crabb, Gayle (Scott Johnson) Lentner and Emily Portis; nieces and nephews; Steve Hotz, James Smith, Ben Smith. Lydia (Zach) Marotz, Tom Johnson, Faith Molter and Christina Portis; and great-nephew, Leon White.
She is preceded in death by her parents; nieces, Lexi and Kassidy Harris; best friend, Linda Bixby; and beloved pet Ella Rue.
