Ronald Roger Harris

Ronald Roger Harris, 91, passed away after a short illness on October 14th in La Crosse Wisconsin.

Born September 19th 1935 to Roger and Gretchen Harris (nee Hangartner) in Postville. After graduating from Postville High School, he joined the Army as a young man and then married his first wife, Gwendolyn Mork, in 1956. To this marriage five children were born- Dawn, David, Darcy, Denise, and Doug.

He and Gwen owned and ran The Heidelburg Supper Club in Luana. They later divorced. He then married Marcia Bollman in 1979, with whom one child was born- Nicole.

After selling The Heidelburg, he spent his years with Marcia living in Arkansas and later living and working at the Tri City Golf Course, followed by running a vacation resort in Wisconsin and then traveling the United States and a bit of Mexico before returning to Northeast Iowa where he spent the rest of his life.

In his later years he enjoyed watching westerns, tinkering around the house, and eating as much ice cream as his family would let him (which was never enough in his opinion). He wanted to visit Alaska but was never able to fulfill that dream, so he watched as many videos and documentaries about people living off grid there as he could.

He is survived by his wife Marcia, children Dawn, Darcy, Denise, Doug, and Nicole, his MANY grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even a great great grandchild, as well as his step-children Jody and Brent and one sister, Jennifer.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, first wife Gwen, son David, and a sister Jeanine.

No services are planned at this time; a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
