Everett John Plowman age 79, of Adair, IA, passed away on Sunday Oct 4, 2026 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA
Everett was born Oct 10, 1946, to Franklin Earl and Ocabelle (Gustin) Plowman in Adair. He was Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair. He graduated in 1964 from Adair-Casey High School. After graduation he worked construction. Not long after, he married his best friend Sylvia Jean Faga on August 15,1965. From this union they were blessed with four children: Kimberly Lee in1966, Troy Allan in 1967, Todd Michael in 1968, and Audra Jo in 1971.
The couple lived in Atlantic where he worked road construction and later the Iowa Highway Commission for 7 years. He then transferred to the Davenport office and moved to Donahue . Everett became a member of the Carpenter's Union and worked commercial construction. He also became a member of the local fire dept. and became a baseball coach.
In 1979 the family moved to Adair where he was employed at Faga Implement, became an independent contractor, worked for American Builders in Atlantic, Consolidated Supply, Agri Drain, USPO mail carrier in Adair, and Agriland FS in Canby. He was a member of the Adair Fire Department, Conservation Board, and was a leader for Boy Scouts in Adair.
After retirement, Everett and Sylvia enjoyed wintering in Texas, playing golf and developing new friendships.
Everett was devoted to family and helping his children establish their lives with various projects. He enjoyed restoring his tractor, golf and tinkering on small projects.
Everett is survived by his wife and best friend Sylvia, his children Troy (Sheila) Plowman; Todd (Lisa) Plowman and Audra (Jim) Chandler; 11 Grandchildren: Brandon, Bryant and Breanna, Miranda (Zach) and Justin (MacKenzie), Kindra (Brennan), James (Sarah), Jessie, Kassidy (Glenn), Jay and Kylie. One Great Granddaughter Annie; his brothers James (Sondra) Plowman, L. Jerald (Toni) Plowman; Sisters-in-law, Kay Faga, Cyndi Lorenzen, and Margaret Plowman, and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Lee: Granddaughter Alexis: parents Franklin and Ocabelle; sister L. Lorraine Denning: brother Frank Plowman: brothers-in-law Dean Mintzmeyer, Jim Denning, Danny Faga, and Monte Lorenzen: nephew Stephen Faga.
