Obituary for Luanne Kay Moser

Luanne was born on March 27, 1959, to Betty and Everett Marmann. A proud graduate of Central Community Schools in Elkader, it was there that she met her high school sweetheart and the absolute love of her life, Randy. The two were united in marriage on June 23, 1979, beginning a beautiful journey of partnership and friendship that spanned nearly 47 years.

Luanne’s life was defined by her tireless work ethic and a deep-seated passion for caring for others. She began her career at the Clayton County Care Facility, where she didn't just work, she truly knew the residents she served. Her caring approach and detailed orientation was apparent even later in life as she ran errands for her mom and manicured her lawn. As a Hawkeye fan by birthright, she also ensured her mom could view her beloved Hawks on TV.

When she and Randy started their family, Luanne’s devotion to her children, Tesha and Dustin, took center stage. For years, she balanced the demanding life of working nights at the Care Facility so she could be present as a mom during the day. As her children grew, she transitioned into roles at Land’s End and later DeLong, eventually concluding her professional career at Freedom Bank.

Outside of work, Luanne was happiest on the water. Whether she was relaxing at the river on her beloved houseboat, “Lu’s Dream & Randy’s II,” casting a line from the pontoon, or paddling a kayak, the river was her sanctuary. It was also here at the dock and between the riverbanks where she and Randy made more life-long friends.

Luanne was also known for her competitive nature. In her younger years, she played slow-pitch softball and bowled in a league where she and Randy met many forever friends. She also never turned down a chance to hit the pickleball court. Luanne loved getting on the golf course, especially with her family and more specifically, Uncle Lloyd. Whatever the game, she brought her competitive energy and "A-game".

The kitchen was another place where Luanne’s love was felt most tangibly. A gifted cook and an exceptional baker, she was the "official" cake maker for significant family milestones. During the holidays, she turned her kitchen into a bakery, delivering homemade treats (along with Randy & Cindy) to family and friends, not just as food, but as a way to spread genuine joy and holiday cheer.

Luanne cherished the simple pleasures such as biking, gardening, sunsets, and riverside breakfast dates. While she loved her iced coffee, her real passion was her family. She lived for "spoiling" her grandchildren and was their biggest fan, cheering them on as they excelled in sports.

Luanne’s legacy will live on in the river breezes, the taste of a perfectly baked cake or cookie, and the enduring love she built with Randy, her children, and grandchildren.

Luanne passed away suddenly from heart failure. She is survived by her loving husband, Randy, daughter, Tesha Moser-Zimmerman (John), son, Dustin Moser (Leah), grandchildren Tate, Chase, Mason and Carson, Mother, Betty Marmann, Godmother, Mary Heiden, siblings, Jane Wilke, Kathy (Mike Gustafson), Scott (Candyce) Marmann, and Julie (Mark) Tschirgi, Sister-in-law, Cindy (Kent) Werges, and many nieces and nephews.

Luanne was met at Heaven’s Gates by her father, Everett, sibling, David, mother-in-law, Leonilla, and father-in-law, Harvey, brother-in-law, Phil Moser, and nephew, Andrae Werges.

A celebration of life will be held at Johnson's Reception Hall on June 7 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be set up at Freedom Bank in Luanne’s honor in the next few days.
