Janet (Jan) Irene Gienger
Janet (Jan) Irene Gienger passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at Newton Village in the care of Hospice of the Midwest and the Newton Village nursing staff.
She was born on August 13, 1943, to Clyde (Otis) Wilson and Irma Johnson in Marshalltown, Iowa.
She attended Marshalltown Community School and graduated in 1961. She then attended AIB in Des Moines receiving her degree in accounting.
She married Roger Gienger in 1962, living their early years in Marshalltown. Their family moved to Beaman in 1970. Their life revolved around their hobby farm and their small businesses for many years.
Jan loved her flower gardens. Together they had a large vegetable garden and orchard, that she enjoyed canning and freezing the produce. She was extremely creative; there wasn’t a craft she didn’t try. Her faith was an integral part of her life. She was a member of the Beaman United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, conducted children’s sermons and was a member of Evening Circle. She was also a member of the local Town & Country Club and cherished the friendships and memories made.
She was a homemaker mostly but did hold various local jobs at the Beaman church, Kibby’s, Ritchie Industries, Conrad Record and Casey’s. She did all the accounting for J&R Engine Repair and Gienger Electric.
Jan is survived by her sons Tracy (Sue) Gienger, Newton and Todd Gienger of Beaman. Grandchildren; Shaun, Geoff (Rhonda), Derrek (Rosalie) and “grandson-of-the-heart” Ryan Hegdahl. Sister Nicki (Marvin) Brewer, sister-in-law Cathy Weatherly, several cousins and nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death are her parents Otis and Irma, brother Dennis Wilson, husband Roger Gienger, Mother and Father-in-law Twila and Ernest Gienger and brother-in-law Don Weatherly.
A celebration will take place at a later time. Condolences and memorials may be directed to the Gienger Family at P.O. Box 55 Beaman, Iowa 50609. Memorials will be directed to Hospice of the Midwest and the Beaman Church by the family.
Iowa Cremation is entrusted with her final wishes. Condolences can also be left on their website www.iowacremation.com.
