Freddie Dee Smith, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, of natural causes at Mercy Hospital surrounded by loved ones. There will be no services held per Freddie's request.
Freddie was as strong-willed and stubborn as they came and loved his family with every fiber in his body. Freddie worked at West Side Salvage in Atkins, IA and retired from there. He lived life to the fullest and loved shooting his guns, fishing, riding his motorcycle and watching his children and grandchildren bowling.
Survivors include his son Russell Smith and his wife Shelly, and daughter Andrea Shurtz all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by grandchildren Jonny, Mickey, Brandon, Tracey, Christian, Bristol, Jordan, Caleb, Eli, Levi, and Izzy. Great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Aiden, Addalyn, Kane, Bane and Maverik. Freddie will be greatly missed.
Freddie was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his mother and father, his daughter Amber and granddaughter Faith.
